The Tigers Black 13U team learned many things and had lots of new experiences while competing against older 14U girls teams in their first real taste of OVA action. There were many obstacles to overcome such as bad weather, weak officiating and a bad cold that's going around.

13U GIRLS PROVINCIAL CUP ZONE B
The Waterloo Tigers 13U Black 1996 #1 Team played a complete, terrific day of volleyball on Saturday December 13th at St. Benedict's CSS in Cambridge.
The team started the day off a little sluggishly by beating Etobicoke Titans 12U in close straight sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-18. The next match saw them totally "own" the Peel Selects '96 team 25-12 and 25-11. Match 3 was quite interesting against Oakville Thunder Blue. The team dominated game one 25-5. The overconfidence took over and the Tigers Black lost game two 15-25. After a little soul searching and stern words from the coaches, the girls came back to their senses and controlled game 3 15 to 5. Match 4 pitted the Tigers against a familiar foe whom they have played a few times already, Halton Hurricanes Black 13U, the Tigers controlled the play 25-20 and 25-21.
These results placed the Tigers Black 1st overall in their pool and set up what appeared to be a showdown against the first place finisher in the other pool, Etobicoke Titans Black 13U. It was quite a see saw battle with some amazing serves, hits and blocks but the Titans came out on top by scores of 19-25 and 17 to 25.
This day was a great success for the Tigers Black as they know now they can beat some pretty solid club teams. The "bar" has been set for what is now expected of the 13U Black team and we can move ahead and prepare to compete at all chances to achieve our goal of being in Tier One come the end of the season. This is a very reasonable and achievable standard and the girls need to know that both the coaching staff and all parents in attendance are extremely proud of how the girls played and behaved.
On a side note the Tigers 13U Black team would like to wish a very Merry Christmas to all of our fans and followers and the Best of the Holidays. Also Thanks a bunch Moms and Dads!! We Love You!

Tigers Girls 13U Black Shine Silver
The Tigers Black Girls team attended the 13U Mac Gregor Cup this past Saturday Jan. 24th at FHCI in Kitchener and came home with 2nd place silver medals. It was a long drawn out day but our girls held tight and competed hard and learned many valuable lessons on the game of volleyball.
Our attacking skills are coming along nicely but we need to refine our defense and passing. Since we are a fairly tall team our forte is net play and we did quite well "roofing" with our block. Congrats to the girls for a well deserved successful day and the team looks forward to get right back at it on Sat. Jan. 31st in Stratford at a 14U tournament.
Good Luck Tigers Black 13U!!

The 13U Tigers Black '96 Girls team traveled to the Stratford Agriplex on Sat. Jan. 31st to compete in the 14U Challenge Cup 12 team tournament.
Wow, what a beautiful facility and great volleyball venue!
We started out the day ranked in 12th place since we are an underage team playing in an older age category. The first two matches ended in pleasant surprises for the Tigers as they beat Windsor South County 14U Black Bandits 2 games to one.
They then went on to defeat the Stratford Stingers 14U Gold team 2 games to one as well. This meant the Tigers won their pool and would set them up in a quarter final. It just so happens they would end up playing our own Tigers 14U Red team who had just finished in 3rd in their pool but played a playoff match to pit these 2 teams against each other. The younger Tigers lacked any kind of passion or spirit and stood around as the older team beat them in 2 straight sets.
OUCH! That was the only disappointing time of the day.
The youngsters regrouped and went on to play Brantford and win by scores of 25-13 and 25-20 to finish the day in 5th place. This meant the team moved up 7 spots from the beginning of the day. Congratulations girls!
The 13U Black are looking forward to their trip to Windsor on the Feb. 13-15 weekend to play in the 13U Challenge Cup. Good Luck Ladies!!

Finish: Gold Medal (1st)
Congratulations to the Tigers Black 13U Girls team who struck gold on February 14th in Windsor at the Challenge Cup Trillium Zone A.
These 12 year old girls only lost one set the entire day in capturing their first ever Gold Medal to go along with their two 2nd place finishes at the U13 level.
The girls defeated the rest of their competition in 2 straight games.
This finish gives us our first gold to go along with two silvers at the 13U level.
Our next action is Sat. Feb. 21st at FHCI in Kitchener in the 14U tournament. We also look forward to competing March 7th with our cross town rivals, the Preds, in the one and only 13U tournament they are entered in.
Congrats Tigers Black 13U Girls!

Momma Always Said There Would Be Days Like This! - Forrest Gump![]()
Ouch! The Tigers 13U Black girls team had a disappointing tournament at Forest Heights Collegiate in Kitchener on Sat. Feb. 21st in the 14U Hawkins Cup. After such a stellar showing last week in a 13U tournament these girls came out flat all day long. It appeared as though we were watching the movie "The Bad News Bears". Pretty well everything the girls did was not good. Mistake upon mistake multiplied in every match. The Tigers would work so hard to score a few points only for their opposition to string together a better performance and outlast the Tigers on the scoreboard.
We knew we would be in tough the day before when we found out our Captain and team on court leader, Princess, came up lame with a twisted ankle at a school practice. Missing your best overall player for the whole day was a huge loss for the Tigers Black and you could tell it affected their overall confidence level.
These 13U girls next see action on Saturday March 7th at Huron Heights Secondary School in Kitchener in a 13U tournament where they intend to get the problems solved and get back on the winning track.
The girls know that they must work harder in practice (and they will so says the coach) leading up to that tournament. Good Luck!

Result: 5th in Ontario WELL DONE GIRLS!!!
Congratulations go out to Coach Terry’s 13U Girls Black team for finishing their season tied for 5th overall in the province at this past weekend’s Ontario Championships in Oshawa at Durham College. This was the first opportunity to meet the teams from East of Toronto. There was some really exciting volleyball played by all of the top 24 teams that attended this tournament hosted by DRVC. A big pat on the back goes out to our tournament team MVP setter Princess Maranan for winning this prestigious honor. Way to go girls!!
Good Luck at the 14U Ontario Championships at RIM Park in Waterloo on Friday April 24th to Sunday April 26th.
