Bugarski Cup Zone B

Congratulations to Mally Plotogea's 13U Girls team for a hard fought Bronze Medal win in the Bugarski Cup.

The first match saw the Tigers defeat the Niagara Falls Thunder with strong serving from Jess Plotogea, Kalyna Bak, Sam Gwozdz and Ioana Giurgia. In Match 2 we were up against the hard serve and volley team of the Halton Hurricanes, where in the important first game Kakyna Bak served out to win 28-26. Halton came back to win game two. In game three, Alix Hill played great at the net and Emma Bluemke made some key serves to win the match. Match 3 was victory over the Tigers Red team in straight games, Match 4 was a close three game battle with the Waterdown Raiders squeaking out a victory, leaving the Tigers to battle for a bronze medal against another strong Halton team.  Great net play by Jessica, Kalyna and Sam led us to an exciting win and the bronze medal.

Fantastic job girls!

Tigers 13U 95 Black coached by Amelia Plotogea played their first match against Stratford, a very tall and hard serving team. Tigers won set one 25-20, lost set two 20-25, and then won a very tough third set 15-12, completing a huge comback from a 5-10 defecit.

The highlight was the strong serving of Kaylena Bak, who served the last 5 points including an ace serve for match point.  This was the big match of the tournament and the team`s play was much improved from a week earlier at a Tigers hosted exhibition tournament.

The girls won their next two matches against Waterdown Raiders (25-18, 26-24) and South County Bandits (25-15, 25-25-15).  Match four was a respectable loss to Peel Selects (17-25, 25-19, 3-15). In the final match Forest City Green completely overwhelmed the girls with devastating serving, (25-5, 25-7). Forest City ended the day 5-0 (10-1 in sets).

There were major improvements in serving, setting and hitting.

Well done both teams and good luck on December 8th Girls!
