Waterloo Tigers 14U Red Invitational Report

The 14U girls red team experienced its first mini- tournament Saturday November 10 at Forest Heights Collegiate.

The mini-tournament provided our team with its first opportunity to put some of their skills to use in a game. The girls played 5 different teams, three were other tigers teams, and their play improved as the day went on. While the final scores were not in our favour many games were close and the early morning nerves gave way to team spirit and better play.

Our tigers began encouraging each other on court between points with a unique dance step accompanied by a resounding “ rrroarrrrrr”

Our girls are ready for our first official tournament November 24th in Windsor.

Girls 14U Provincial Cup EJ La Juenesse Windsor Nov 24 07

The 14U Girls Red team played their first official tournament in Windsor this past Saturday. Our team was out in full force with about half the team heading down the night before to enjoy the Holiday Inn and its pool.

While the girls are still hunting for their first elusive win their play continues to improve. Jenn Good’s coaching is starting to pay off. Kudos to our three coaches, Jenn, Alana and Stacey for making the trek to Windsor with us during their busy pre- exam time. A special thanks to Jenn who wasn’t feeling well but coached us through all our games even our last game at 7 pm against Forest City Blue.

During a break between games a parents and coaches versus players game was just beginning when we lost the gym…to be continued at a later date… The parents feel confident, as do the girls….

The girls had fun between games playing volleyball in the halls of the school – don’t try this at home.  And who knew that Rebekah could recite the alphabet backwards!
