Volleyball Programs

The Region of Waterloo (Tigers) Volleyball Club is a non-profit organization which, simply put, has three programs for youth, all of which belong to the volleyball club and are designed first and foremost;

      • to introduce the youth of the area to volleyball,
      • to provide instruction and develop team related skill sets,
      • to help build the athlete’s self-esteem, and then over time,
      • develop the individual into a competitive club level athlete if that is what the athlete wishes.

House League / Volleyball Development Program

This eight week program runs numerous times per year and provides instruction and game play in a high energy environment culminating in a Gala Tournament with prizes the final session.  Athlete/instructor ratios are kept relatively low and one on one instruction is provided when instructors recognize the need.

This program is always being reviewed and adjusted to fit the needs of the session’s participants.

Tigers Volleyball Summer Camp

The model that we are introducing this year (2008) to the youth of Waterloo region and surrounding area is, we feel, a truly unique and proven volleyball camp model.

We embark on this venture with the support and guidance of Frank Lilliman, Rob Luciani and Seekers Volleyball Camp.  This camp program provides an environment of total respect for everyone involved where the focus is to ensure no participant regrets being in the camp at any time.

The expectations of this camp is that every athlete will leave the camp with an improved skill level from when they entered and that they will be enriched as an individual from the experience.

Tigers Competitive Youth Teams

These teams are the “highest skill set level” of our programs and compete in Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) tournaments. Team age levels range from 13 and under (13U) through to 21U teams. Expectations for athletes chosen for these teams are much higher as attendance and commitment to practices, tournaments and travel are required.

Teams practice a minimum of twice weekly and compete in at least one tournament per month during the OVA season.  All teams have the option of competing in the National event for their age group if there is one, and some teams also elect to play in additional tournaments in the United States.

Venues can be anywhere from Ottawa to Windsor and from Sudbury to Fort Erie, so travel and accommodation expenses need to be anticipated on top of the Club registration fees.

Open tryouts for these teams take place in September of each year. The OVA season then runs from November through to April of the following year.
